Tin foil wrapped around base prevents most vine borers.

  13. Hutzjohn on November 13, 2022 at 9:37 pm

  16. Rupert Picante on November 13, 2022 at 9:41 pm

    Zucchini tips? Seriously?
    1. Plant in crappy soil.
    2. Water
    3. Give away extra zucchini to neighbors.

  17. John on November 13, 2022 at 9:42 pm

Wrap stems loosely with aluminum foil and it keeps the borers away. Cheap and VERY EFFECTIVE.

  18. Michelle D B on November 13, 2022 at 9:43 pm

    Can you use Neil oil

  19. skinnyWHITEguy M on November 13, 2022 at 9:44 pm

I pick the male blooms and rub the flowers inside on the inside of the female blooms when they open. That way no female blooms get wasted.

  20. Forest Dweller on November 13, 2022 at 9:45 pm

    Wonderful video.

  22. Cj Howard on November 13, 2022 at 9:48 pm

I over planted zucchini last year. But no issues with them. But anything and everything I could make with zucchini, I did. 😆

  23. Adolfo Perez on November 13, 2022 at 9:48 pm

Good information! Thank you so much beautiful!

  24. Kristen McKendry on November 13, 2022 at 9:49 pm

If it gets extremely hot in the summer, the plants stop producing female flowers. One year I got only male flowers, so now I try to provide some shade/cooling during peak heat.

  25. C Crogoody on November 13, 2022 at 9:49 pm

Are you sure they identify as a female flower? Lol!!! Great video!

  26. Sofia On Demand on November 13, 2022 at 9:53 pm

  27. vladi dol on November 13, 2022 at 9:54 pm

Thank you for the explanation of male , female flowers. I was wondering why I have plants with fruiting flowers and some not fruiting. Now I know

I have tons of little toads that live in my garden that are pest control warriors. My 6 year old daughter likes to catch them and then release them back into the gardens. My cabbage is the only plants so far suffering from pests. Those little green caterpillars are wrecking my cabbage.

  34. Kat Chapman on November 13, 2022 at 10:03 pm

Have you tried sulfur for powdery mildew?

  35. VeRnSquad5611 on November 13, 2022 at 10:05 pm

My garden is filled with spiders and ladybugs. No need for pesticides this year.

  36. sotm2 on November 13, 2022 at 10:05 pm

I always grow 5 zuccini and 5 yeallow squash in my 8 by 4 foot raised bed. But you need to prune out leaves once they get going good to provide air circulation and I get more than enough fruits! Also my squash always produce female fruits first! Been doing this for over fourty years now!

  37. JuneGem Muahh on November 13, 2022 at 10:06 pm

What if my female flower identifies as a male flower?

  38. Chamomile Camille on November 13, 2022 at 10:07 pm

  39. Beatrix on November 13, 2022 at 10:10 pm

  40. Vin Delanos on November 13, 2022 at 10:12 pm

I am happy to report that my zucchini is the most successful plant right now in my summer garden. It’s big, it’s beautiful, and itr’s flowering like crazy. I hope it produces some female flowers soon.

  41. Cynthia Velasquez on November 13, 2022 at 10:13 pm

I wished I knew about spacing. Definitely did not do that.

  46. KINGHALO on November 13, 2022 at 10:17 pm

For the last few years, ours have grown stunted and tiny. They used to be big flourishing plants. They look inbred now. Can’t figure out what changed.

  47. Fani Perico Moses on November 13, 2022 at 10:18 pm

Thank you from Brazil! You explained very well! ❤

  48. Surfers Collective on November 13, 2022 at 10:18 pm

Ya gotta pick the leaves off big time for airflow. Also good to plant on slopes….danp air flows down.

  49. Natalie Ahlstrom on November 13, 2022 at 10:19 pm

Nicole, is it possible to keep the zucchini plants from year to year? I’m in the high desert of so. California and we don’t usually get a hard frost. Just wondering. Thanks.

  50. Nabbour Habib on November 13, 2022 at 10:19 pm

You have such an amazing energy! 🙂 Q: how long after pollination (manually) can you pick the female flower?
