People should not buy wonderful mid Century homes if they’re just going to tear out all the beautiful character

  2. Megan Bowman on October 18, 2022 at 7:52 pm

I think it looks good either way. But am happy you didnt completely gut it

  3. BlackStarBlues on October 18, 2022 at 7:52 pm

This is nice if you must replace vintage fittings that are broken or in disrepair. However, it’s a shame to rip out lovely functioning tiles & fixtures in a beautifully preserved bathroom. It’s like buying an 18th century Italian palazzo then painting over the murals and ripping out the mouldings. And yes mid-century American design is equivalent.

  4. ethan on October 18, 2022 at 7:54 pm

Glad you didn’t get rid of the tub but it was a mistake to get rid of all the charm

  5. Lottie Summers on October 18, 2022 at 7:55 pm

“the tile is cute it’s kinda sad they covered it up”
me: thank god i’m so relieved
*immediately covers it up with white fucking marble*

    this shit is so upsetting

  6. becca m on October 18, 2022 at 7:58 pm

I almost liked this until I saw a CHANDELIER IN THE BATHROOM LIKE WHY OH MY GOD NO!

  7. Andrew Hanson on October 18, 2022 at 7:59 pm

    It turned out perfect!

  8. Joaquín Rubio on October 18, 2022 at 7:59 pm

You should have restored the original floor instead of putting in this imitation marble.

Everyone makes bad decisions. But everyone doesn’t have to make a video of their bad decisions and put it up on the internet. Please anyone reading this – before you decide to rip beautiful vintage tile off of the walls of your vintage home – consult an architect or at least a designer with a degree in interior design that specializes in old homes.

Seems to me you tried hard to make the old bathroom look bad by leaving the toilet seat up, the toilet roll hanging down way too far and the window shutters not shut properly. I notice all this was corrected in the after shots. Also u didnt show us the original mirror. Makes an honest comparison harder.

  11. Mama Bee on October 18, 2022 at 8:03 pm

The green is beautiful I’m not sure what the hell they were thinking with that flooring and chandelier it looks redic

  12. Michelle South Florida on October 18, 2022 at 8:03 pm

We have vintage tile in our 1950s home. Its a love/hate issue for me. Its pink and the other bathroom is blue. I see all these beautiful modern designs (basically grays and whites, black) and I feel so outdated. But at the same time its character? I don’t know. uggg

  13. YoYoLand on October 18, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Im buying my first home and it needs updating. I really want it be a conservation project as much as it is a remodel.

    I’m on a budget. Pfft

  15. Gina B on October 18, 2022 at 8:07 pm

  16. Kaylee Escobar on October 18, 2022 at 8:09 pm

    This is so sad 😞

  17. Rab Baney on October 18, 2022 at 8:09 pm

God I absolutely love that bath tube soooooo much.

  18. Katie Cousineau on October 18, 2022 at 8:09 pm

Oh your original bathroom was sooo lovely!!

  19. Kathryn Reel on October 18, 2022 at 8:10 pm

Such. Shame not to save the decorative liner tile. The green tub is awesome

  20. Beverly Cheek on October 18, 2022 at 8:11 pm

I guess you should have it as you like but OMG it broke my heart to watch you ruin a beautifully kept lovely 50s Era bath. The floor! The accent tile!

  21. Rayo_Rob_No.17 on October 18, 2022 at 8:11 pm

Linoleum? Good God, you don’t even know that was masonry mosaic tile. So, slabs of faux marble is better, right? Uh, NO!

I can’t believe it, and you took off the top finishing tile pieces? Why? Seriously??? What’s the point of that?

Sorry, I just see too many "intact" bathrooms from the 20s-50s that are just stunning, but some friend suggests it has to go and, they’re like… Ok, it’s gotta go.

STOP THE MADNESS! Please, how many more classic washrooms need to be punished for being unique and classic?

    Sorry, this is just idiocy.

  22. Queenie Baggins on October 18, 2022 at 8:11 pm

I quite like it….but green is my favourite colour 😜

  23. A Viewer on October 18, 2022 at 8:11 pm

    I liked the green bathroom!

  24. JuanCarlos Montes on October 18, 2022 at 8:13 pm

It’s BEAUTIFUL! I’m SO glad you didn’t rip out that vintage tile. What a treasure it is in a pristine looking bathroom like yours turned out to be.

  25. E on October 18, 2022 at 8:17 pm

… the wallpaper did have to go..Im sad you removed the classic era specific bullnose dark green tile… so gorgeous. I wasn’t a fan of the tile on the floor either… neither the original. so dont worry about the haters. if you wanted to super elevate and ever get an itch to re Reno..because you did do a contemporary renovation that is going to be outdated in 5 years… that’s how hdtv gets you…. try finding matching green tile and diagonally laying on the floor while the border is aligned appropriately… also find a classic vanity and lay the tile on top to match the room as well. it will make you bathroom literally look like a million dollars. (might cost it too).

  26. David Stewart on October 18, 2022 at 8:18 pm

Oh my. Terrible mistake. You could have removed the outrageous wallpaper without destroying the bathroom

  27. plncka on October 18, 2022 at 8:25 pm

this looks so tacky already imagine how badly it’s going to age wow

  28. babalina on October 18, 2022 at 8:28 pm

    She ruined her bathroom

  29. tanory07 on October 18, 2022 at 8:29 pm

"its kinda cute its a shame they covered it up"
    *covers it up*

  30. Rachael Ross on October 18, 2022 at 8:29 pm

Looks beautiful 💕 people are ridiculous 🙄

  31. Josh Stuchbery on October 18, 2022 at 8:33 pm

OK so 30 seconds in and we’ve already decided we’re ripping out all the original character and detail of the room. If you’re going to do this, please do us all a favor and don’t buy an old house. Just build a new one.

  32. Jay Kool on October 18, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Videos like this need to post total cost!

  33. Saleh M on October 18, 2022 at 8:38 pm

    this is a crime

  34. Tim K on October 18, 2022 at 8:39 pm

This is pretty bad. I don’t have a problem with modernizing a retro bath, however, I feel it was genuinely bad. The vanity doesn’t fit at all

  35. Caitlin Purple on October 18, 2022 at 8:39 pm

I’m actually turning my modern (but plain) bathroom into a green, vintage vibe bathroom! Most people I tell this think I’m crazy but I think its gonna be really cool and spunky.

  36. Chad Ring on October 18, 2022 at 8:41 pm

Thank god you didn’t have the money to Reno the entire bathroom…it would have been a shame to see that tub and tile surround be torn out. Unfortunately this happens way too often, especially when people put their trust in designers with god awful contemporary taste and no respect for artist

  37. Marcia Reagan on October 18, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Beautiful. So glad you didn’t rip it all out!

  38. Kelly Evans on October 18, 2022 at 8:42 pm

The tub is the same shape as my grandparents was…except theirs was white! I always loved that tub!

  39. babalina on October 18, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Your ”friend” has no business telling you ”It’s gotta go”. Crikey. Why do you listen to these fools

  40. Ann in Oregon on October 18, 2022 at 8:43 pm

Oh my gosh. What a terrible "update". The green tile was gorgeous and timeless. The new surfaces look like all the other cheap junk we’re seeing everywhere now.
