As much as I like your videos, I have questioned why do you say a dinner prayer at the end of your videos ? why not just put a Bible quote at the bottom of the screen or just say " God Bless". as per the plant that you grew, maybe its not meant for sand. but it grew, and produced seeds. so why not use the seeds that came from a plant grow in that climate now that the plant understands it climate. I have done this, and had failures but let it go to seed, then replant the seeds and had perfect success, i save seeds from the plants ever yr now, and yes I’m in Fl. as well just 30m sound so not much of climate or soil change.

I got a packet just like your that I didn’t order. I checked with our local Ag agent and he said they got a warning about the seeds. He asked me to turn in the packet so they could investigate because they were worried the were weed seeds. Don’t know the result because I never followed up. My seeds didn’t even look like cabbage seed.

  13. H. Van de Walker on October 17, 2022 at 8:16 pm

It has been reported by many people in the US of receiving seeds from China that they did not order. It is suspected that "someone" could be trying to introduce invasive species, or possibly, something more dangerous into our country. People were told to report and turn in any seeds received from China to the US government. I don’t recall which agency is investigating this. I wouldn’t risk feeding the plants to the chickens.

Love your videos. I would love to see videos on pest and insect solutions. I searched through your playlist and couldn’t find hardly any. Your harvests look so beautiful. But I’m sure you come across insect problems (vine borers, squash bugs, aphids, Japanese beetles, grubs, etc.) like the rest of us. It would be great to see how you deal with them.
    Thank you.

I got a packet like that too, that I didn’t order. I called the local Ag agent and he said that the department sent out a warning and he wanted me to turn them in because they had gotten complaints and were worried that they might be weed seeds harmful to our area… don’t know if they ever grew because I didn’t follow up.

My mistake year before last was doing wicking 20gal tubs 20 of them all dry rotted split crumbled fell apart after one season. $10.00 a piece! Never use recycled plastic reality hit me 200$ up in smoke. At Least recycled dirt and PVC pipe for wicking.

  25. Matt Peacock on October 17, 2022 at 8:28 pm

The weather fought you this time, and won! Not too bad, could be worse. One thing to benefit you would be to add some clay to that sugar sand. It may help it hold on to the nutrients you keep adding.

  26. Rose Flores on October 17, 2022 at 8:30 pm

  28. montserrat722010 on October 17, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Wonder whether the seeds were accidentally mixed during packaging. These look like flowering chinese mustard. They are tasty.. cooked with roast pork or just blanched in hot water, served with oyster sauce and fried shallots on top.. how they are served in restaurants.

  29. Virginia Kasselman on October 17, 2022 at 8:35 pm

Hey you guys – where ya been? Haven’t heard from from you since the cabbages- we love your channel and was wondering if y’all are alright? Hope you had a HAPPY THANKSGIVING – and MERRY CHRISTMAS if we don’t hear from you soon! 🦃🎄Virginia in Arkansas

    Your garden looks amazing

  31. Danielle Terry on October 17, 2022 at 8:35 pm

I am starting my first garden this year, putting together my steel above ground beds and my wicking tubs along with my grow bags 😁 the hard part in getting them all filled with good soil, that’s taking me a bit but hope to have them all ready for March, I am zone 8 looking back at a lot of your vids as I will plant as you show how to.

  32. Joshua Kendra on October 17, 2022 at 8:36 pm

Hollis I live in the mountains of northeastern pa I have a nice garden but my soil tightens up really fast how can I keep it loose?

  33. Sophia Patrillo on October 17, 2022 at 8:37 pm

Look up ‘choy sum’….I think that’s what that was that you’re growing. And thank you for sharing your fails as well as successes, we all have them!! No biggie, just lessons learned 👩🏻‍🌾🙂

  34. lady ryan on October 17, 2022 at 8:38 pm

I am also in FL. I’m amazed at your soil WHAT are you doing to keep weeds out? What fertilizer n amendments do you use? My soil is literally dead dirt..thx

  35. Bartacomus Kidd on October 17, 2022 at 8:41 pm

China mails out seeds to people who never order them. Theres some scam going on, to keep some business going, or to pad "Verified" orders for Ad placement. Something weird. It definitely was a Brassica, almost looked like a Bok Choy. That certainly wasnt cabbage though.

  36. Cris L on October 17, 2022 at 8:41 pm

“You only fail if you don’t try”…thank you for that. Having just had blight destroy 1/2 the plants in my SW FL garden (😖😫), I appreciate that encouragement today. God bless you all & Merry Christmas!

Hello Hollis and Nancy, I love your channel; I’ve been following you for a few years now. Congratulations on the growth of the channel. I just have one question; I’ve seen your grow bed, and it is very sandy but you do grow amazingly well. Would it be feasible to add some cover crop to bring up the organics, or does that not grow well in your area?

  40. juliana farrell on October 17, 2022 at 8:46 pm

Florida is so weird with fluctuation, i want to plant my choy but the temp keeps spiking, fastest bolting I’ve ever seen down here. It’s awesome to learn the secrets of the successes, great videos, the chickens are looking great. I loved watching the first ones hit the new pen and tear up treats. We had a ton of eggs with just 4, i image you had a bundle! I love how the garden veggies get the deep yellow yolks. I’m having good luck with bottle gourds and seminole pumpkins in the current central Florida conditions this November.
