At The Woodlands, a mid-19th century cemetery that is a 54-acre oasis in Philadelphia, graves were designed to be planters. Today, volunteers cultivate a sense of history by tending to Victorian Era-style flowers at tombs erected “in the French style.” Tony Dokoupil reports.

    I had no idea that was a concept from France… it’s quite sophisticated as well as being therapeutic. Wonderful.

    This is a lovely piece. My Mother, Uncle, Grandmother and Grandfather are all buried at the Woodlands. I really need to go back and visit to see the wonderful work the Gardeners are doing.
