Dollar Tree DIY Outdoor Faux Metal Flower | Metal Rose | Garden Decor

Dollar Tree DIY Outdoor Faux Metal Flower | Metal Rose | Garden Decor

In this video I have altered the technique of making my faux metal flowers so that they are more suitable for outside decor. The rose I made in this video is about 14″ in diameter. Since these are not made from heavy duty metal, I would recommend using them in a more protected place outdoors such as a covered porch or patio.

Here is the link to my first tutorial for two different styles of flowers

Thanks for sharing and showing the fix of the problem!

Fantastic! I want to make a few large metal flowers (maybe a bit smaller than yours) and attach them to a pole or dial rod for a large tall blue vase I have on my partially covered front porch. I would love to spray them all white for a nice constrast in the blue vase. Thanks for the tips! 😊

That’s wonderful- you’ve really got the old galvanized look

  4. Stunning Misadventures on July 1, 2019 at 1:33 pm

Awesome idea to create a metal looking flower with aluminum pans!! TFS

  5. Deb Walker on July 1, 2019 at 1:33 pm

Absolutely love this flower also. I know its a bit smaller than the other 2 you did. About how big is this one, 20 inches in diameter?????

  6. Rosemary Petrongelli on July 1, 2019 at 1:34 pm

Hi Chantel, how are you? Yes I was impressed with the metal flowers. They’re so unique and different. Actually the petals do require a few steps, but in the end you have a beautiful faux metal flower which the outdoor decor, you’ll see metal or galvanized items. You really applied yourself to this diy. Thank you . It’s really unique and attractive.👍🌹♥️

Love your flowers! Going to make some for my house. I think the paint would have stuck better to the plastic if you had taken sand paper to it. I think you need to rough the plastic a little and then spray paint it.

  8. Carolyn Chatham on July 1, 2019 at 1:36 pm

Even better than the first flowers

  9. Maria Ramirez on July 1, 2019 at 1:39 pm

Hello Chantel hope you are doing well. Super super cute tin flowers love 🌹. Thank you for your inspiration I going to try and make a few sunflowers. Big Tx hugs from South Tx.

  10. Dianna on July 1, 2019 at 1:40 pm

I think the glue made it not stick "not the paint"

Once more a fabulous video, thanks Chantel, appreciate your tutorials and your time.

  15. Mary Kaye Flynn Jenrich on July 1, 2019 at 1:47 pm

You should have sanded the lid of the bowl prior to spray painting it. That helps paint better adhere to the plastic. Love your videos! 😊

I love this I am doing my bedroom with a wisteria feel and I need small to med size center piece in the middle of my window and this would be perfect with my vines and rose garland going around , but to be honest I am not that good at DIY’s and plus I have no print is there any other way to trade the rose petals?

  33. Cindy B on July 1, 2019 at 2:04 pm

Love it. I have to try this out. I also bought a set of cookie sheets from Family Dollar to paint and cut to make galvanized decor pieces. It also comes 2 in a pack and has a smooth surface, without the raised dots which I like since it gives more of an authentic galvanized look.

  34. Myra Lacefield on July 1, 2019 at 2:04 pm

Can’t get the petals to print. Can you give me the dimensions on each please.

  35. Sue Lumpkin on July 1, 2019 at 2:06 pm

This is so pretty, I don’t think the problem with the plastic lid was the paint though, it was the glue on the paint that is why it didn’t hold, I have made the same mistake. Mine was an epic fail on my project.

  41. Aspen Hills Accounting on July 1, 2019 at 2:15 pm

I have wanted to buy some flowers like this for a long time. But couldn’t bring myself to spend so much on them. I made the first 2 flowers. They are so beautiful! I get tons of compliments on them. People think I spent a lot of money on them! I am now making the 3rd one, the rose. They will all be hanging in my living room. They are perfect for my decor and I love them! thank you so much!

  44. june Villegas on July 1, 2019 at 2:18 pm

Fabulous! My daughter saw some at Big Lot’s and they were still quite expensive. I told her I could make them because I watched you do it! She doesn’t believe me so I have to make one just to show her. Her famous words are, "Mom, you can’t make everything!!!" haha, kids these days. Love your channel and your inspiration, thanks for your scripture passage at the end too. God bless you, June Ellen

I just found you & did subscribe I love your idea & I want to watch the other videos on your flowers But I do have a ? Since the plastic lid didn’t work when I try to make one do I then use the burner cover instead or do I have to use both lids? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I don’t remember if you said that I don’t have to use the plastic lid at all

  47. Beth Hughes on July 1, 2019 at 2:25 pm

I just love these. I’m currently decorating my back screened in porch and I think I’m going to make a couple of these to hang out there. I’ll be attaching them to the vinyl siding, so the weight of anything I hang has to be considered. I think these will work great using Command Strips of hooks. Thank you for sharing this technique! Love it.

When I saved this pattern to my dropbox I noticed you didn’t add the dimensions of the petals. I just love these flowers and have begun buying trays to make them all. Thank you. They are beautiful
