A day in the life of an ancient Peruvian shaman – Gabriel Prieto

A day in the life of an ancient Peruvian shaman – Gabriel Prieto

Follow Quexo, a Peruvian shaman, as he searches for cinnabar to complete a special ritual that will protect his village from winter storms.

The year is 1400 BCE. At the temple of the fisherman, the morning is unusually still and this is just the latest in a series of troubling signs for Quexo, the village shaman. The villagers live off the sea, but this year the winds have died and the fish have dwindled. He’s seen this before— his only hope to fix it is a special ritual. Gabriel Prieto outlines a day in the life of a Peruvian shaman.

Everyone: DID HE STOP THE STORMS?
Me, an intellectual: Doesn’t matter. Even if he lived through the storm, that cinnabar would cause mercury poisoning, anyways.

As a hispanic can say, an ancient pre hispanic amerindian didn’t need to search for complex elements for a ritual. They just needed to have living beings (ANY living beings) and something sharp to have a perfect ritual for their "gods".

omg i wish i was an ancient peruvian shaman

  25. mrdabbleswithpotion on June 13, 2020 at 7:05 pm

I  wouldn’t call working with pure energy "shamanism". Alright, so I used m blood, but  find me anything else that has as much power & can influence the spirits.

I wish I can turn this to a rigorous, disciplined study, like the Sciences, but that is beyond me right now.

Ancient Philippines had had spiritual leaders that were well known as ‘Babaylan’ before the western colonisation and Japanese occupation. They were an important part of the ancient-tribal tradition that guided their (my) people to prosperity through supernatural practices that mediated the boundary of humans with the spiritual world.
