Poolside DIYs/Budget friendly Summer Blue and White Outdoor Decor

Hi friends!
On this video I DIY five budget friendly outdoor Summer decorations. I make a summer wooden sign, 4 pillows from one beach towel, decal two plastic wine glasses, spray paint an old umbrella stand and make a serving tray using Dollar Tree items.

#diy, #homedecor, #diybeautyonpurpose

Paints used:
Behr Premium paint in Mossy Bench
Glidden paint in Thai Teal
Rustoleum chalked paint in Linen white
Rustoleum spray paint in Satin white
Rustoleum top coat in Matte clear

Love the projects! The tray is my favorite, and the rope handles do look better. The scarf handles would be nice indoors.

You know what would be nice to go along with your pillows. If you have lounge chairs. Get those cushions for them, then sew some towel together and if you can put a zipper on you’d be able to take them off to wash. Just a suggestion for the poolside. It is a really great idea for those pillows. Great job on all your ideas.

  12. Connie Bruner on August 9, 2020 at 9:39 pm

Very cute. Frog tape is better. It seals & peels off easier.

  13. Jodi Olliver on August 9, 2020 at 9:39 pm

@designtothenines NataLee Callaghan avoids bleed through by painting the open areas the same color as the base coat that’s under the tape. Then that dries and she goes in with the striped color she wants and anything that bleeds through is the original color. She does it all the time and her lines are so crips n on point. It’s an extra step but if you really want a cure for no bleeding, I’ve seen this work every time she does it. It would be cool to see if it works for you. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet myself. Good luck. Great videos. My mom has a nice salt water in ground pool n she always takes such pride in it. So I’m really liking your ideas cuz she really likes entertaining by the pool, even if it’s just me and my kids lol. All these DIYs are perfect for her pool area. I’m gonna surprise her with something!!

    How nice!

  15. Krista Dobbins on August 9, 2020 at 9:43 pm

Love all of today’s DIYs!! I put a coat of the bottom paint on before painting another color so when it does bleed through it will bleed the bottom coat instead of the other color. I hope that makes since 🤣🤣

I love anything beachy. The colors are so vibrant. Your projects were great but I especially liked the sign. I am interested in making the little table shown in the video. Can you send me the link? Thank you.

  18. wendy bray on August 9, 2020 at 9:46 pm

None of the tapes work good I saw someone put the tape on than paint it white again than the blue & it seems to work.

NataLee @Design To The Nines, she adds another coat of the bottom paint over the top of what your painted stripes and THEN use the color that you like for the stripes, it prevents bleeding.

  33. Robin Pappas on August 9, 2020 at 10:00 pm

Great idea for the pillows. Like always great diys.

  34. melanie Bishop on August 9, 2020 at 10:01 pm

I use blue painter’s tape and frog green tape and still have bleeding . Natalie on "Designed to the Nines" has a great tut on how to prevent bleeding . Worked for mr

  40. Mrs. Patti Derge on August 9, 2020 at 10:11 pm

I love this. I am all about the pool and wish I had one. I love that sign. You built up layers of paint and sanded and so on. I just LOVE it! I think using the scarf is a great idea for another tray that has that turquoise color from your sign. Thank you for sharing. You always say your name so quickly, I can’t
    catch it. Is it Liane?

  41. Deborah Barber on August 9, 2020 at 10:12 pm

    Love it!

  42. Mary Vandervort on August 9, 2020 at 10:14 pm

  43. Nancy Campbell on August 9, 2020 at 10:14 pm

    Adorable !! TFS.

  44. Kathy MacCrea on August 9, 2020 at 10:14 pm

I use painters tape but I recently learned a trick and that is, paint the stripes white first, any bleed through will match the base color. Then paint the stripes blue. No bleed through!

  45. Kimmie B on August 9, 2020 at 10:15 pm

What font did you use on the “life is better” sign? It’s so cute. I’m a new subbie! Binge watching so many of your videos!

  46. Debbie's Dilemmas on August 9, 2020 at 10:15 pm
